1. Acceptance
By installing or using Rent Scout (the "App"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. What the App does
The App lets you search and view income-based, subsidized, and tax-credit rental properties in the United States, based on open data published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other public sources. You can save properties, view them on a map, and contact them through your phone's apps.
3. Not a government service
The App is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by HUD, any public housing agency, or any government. The App does not take applications, determine eligibility, or hold waitlist places.
4. Accuracy of information
Property information comes from public datasets that are updated periodically and may be incomplete or out of date. It does not show real-time vacancies, rents, or waitlist status. Always confirm details directly with the property manager or your local housing authority before making decisions. You can tell us about incorrect information with the "Report incorrect info" button.
5. Your data
Saved properties and settings are stored only on your device. How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Advertising
The App is funded by advertising served through Google AdMob. Ads are provided by third parties; we do not endorse advertised products or services.
7. Acceptable use
You may not reverse-engineer, redistribute, or resell the App, scrape its server, interfere with the advertising it displays, or use it in a way that breaks applicable law.
8. Intellectual property
The App, its name, icon, design, and illustrations are owned by the developer. Public data shown in the App remains subject to its original terms. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
9. Availability and changes
We may update, change, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time without notice. We may revise these Terms; the effective date above will change when we do, and continued use means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App or reliance on the information it shows.
